Daytona State College Names Russ Jackson as Head Women’s Basketball Coach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona State College is excited to announce the hiring of Russ Jackson as the new Head Coach of the Falcons Women's Basketball program. Jackson brings a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to the position, including a previous impactful stint with Daytona State, where he helped guide the program to consistent success.

"We're thrilled to welcome Coach Jackson back to the Falcon family," said DSC Director of Athletics Will Dunne. "His deep ties to the college, combined with his coaching expertise and dedication to student-athlete development, make him the ideal leader to take our women's basketball program to the next level."

Jackson returns to Daytona State after most recently serving as the Head Coach of Santa Fe College Women's Basketball, a role he began in June 2023. Prior to that, he spent two years at Florida A&M University, where he progressed from Assistant Coach to Associate Head Coach for the Division I Rattlers.

From 2016 to 2020, Jackson served as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Daytona State College. During his tenure, the Falcons earned a Mid-Florida Conference Championship, three conference runner-up finishes, and three trips to the FCSAA/NJCAA Region VIII Tournament. Jackson was known not only for his strategic acumen on the court, but also for his commitment to academic success and mentorship off the court.

"I am grateful to President Dr. LoBasso, Athletics Director Will Dunne, and the search committee for believing in my vision and providing me with the responsibility to lead the Falcons Women's Basketball Program. I am looking forward to getting to work!"

Jackson's extensive coaching and administrative resume includes roles at Wingate University, Hampton University, and Livingstone College, as well as compliance and academic advisory positions throughout his career. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Psychology from Savannah State University, and a Master's degree in Sports Management from California University of Pennsylvania.

A native of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Jackson and his wife Naomi have three children: Jordan, Isaiah, and Russ Jr.
