CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Pensacola State College's Kate Luyten was named the NJCAA Division I Softball Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Luyten, a freshman shortstop from Woonona, NSW, Australia, batted 1.000 (7-for-7) with five runs scored, two doubles, one triple and three RBI in two games, helping the Pirates to a doubleheader sweep of Carl Sandburg.
In game one, she went 4-for-4, finishing a homer shy of the cycle, scored three runs and drove in two. In game two, she went 3-for-3 with a double, scored twice and drove in a run
Luyten was named the FCSAA DI Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
