CHARLOTTE, N.C. - State College of Florida's A'Lana Martinez was named the NJCAA Division II Softball Player of the Week on Wednesday.
Martinez, a sophomore outfielder from Cooper City, Fla., batted .739 (17-for-23) with 16 runs scored, two doubles, four triples, three home runs, 13 RBI and nine stolen bases in six games.
She hit safely, scored and recorded both an RBI and stolen base in each game, helping the Manatees to a 5-1 week.
Against St. Petersburg, Martinez hit for the cycle (4-for-4) and drove in four runs in game two of a doubleheader.
She was a perfect 8-for-8 in a February 12 doubleheader vs. Spoon River (3-for-3) and St. Petersburg (5-for-5) and ended the week going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBI vs. Miami Dade.
Martinez was named the FCSAA DII Softball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
