'Dores' Zagryn, Pats' Lopez recognized by the NJCAA

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - FCSAA standouts grabbed both NJCAA Division I Baseball weekly awards on Wednesday.

Gulf Coast State College's Carson Zagryn was named NJCAA DI Baseball Player of the Week while the College of Central Florida's Kaiden Lopez was named NJCAA DI Baseball Pitcher of the Week. 

Zagryn, a freshman second baseman from Atlanta, Ga., batted .529 (9-for-17) with seven runs scored, two doubles, five home runs and 18 RBI in four games. 

He hit safely in all four games, helping the Commodores to a 3-1 week against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents. 

Zagryn was 2-for-5 with three RBI in each game against Northwest Florida State. In game one of a two-game series vs. Chipola, he homered three times and drove in eight runs; he homered and drove in four more runs in game two vs. the Indians.

He was named the FCSAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday. 

Lopez, a sophomore righthander from Oviedo, Fla., went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one appearance last week for Central Florida. 

He started and tossed 6.2 scoreless innings in the Patriots' 5-0 win vs. Eastern Florida State. Lopez yielded six hits and struck out seven.

He was named the FCSAA Division I Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday.
