FCSAA announces finalists for annual athletics awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has announced the finalists for its annual athletics awards, recognizing excellence in the classroom and competition during the 2025-26 academic year.

Nominees for Male and Female Athletes of the Year are comprised of all FCSAA Player of the Year honorees in all championship sports, as well as any individuals submitted from other sports in which FCSAA member colleges participate (men's and women's golf, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's track & field), provided the nominee was named NJCAA All-America during the 2025-26 season.  

Likewise, 13 different Scholar-Athlete of the Year recipients, which were announced June 26, are in the running for Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, along with nominees from all other FCSAA sports. Nominees must have accumulated 48 credit hours with a minimum 3.30 GPA and have completed at least three full-time terms, including at least one at a FCSAA institution. Citizenship, community service and athletic prowess may also be taken into consideration.  

Male and Female Academic Teams of the Year - for small (10 or fewer participants) and large (11+ participants) rosters will also be selected.  

All award winners will be announced July 2.


Male Athlete of the Year  

  • Hayden Clark, Daytona State, cross country - 2025 FCSAA DII Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year; DII men's individual champion at FCSAA XC Championships; ran a 26:08.7 at the FCSAA XC Championships, the 8th fastest all-time; helped Daytona State to the FCSAA DII Championship and fourth place finish at the NJCAA DII XC Championship
  • Myles Egerton, Seminole State, cross country - 2025 FCSAA DI Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year; ran a 26:37.7 in the 8K at the FCSAA XC Championships, tops among DI runners; helped Seminole State to a 28th place finish in the NJCAA DI XC Championship
  • Marvin Golf, Palm Beach State, basketball - 2026 FCSAA DII Men's Basketball Player of the Year; averaged 13.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists; led Palm Beach State to the FCSAA DII Men's Basketball Championship, the nation's No. 1 ranking and berth in the NJCAA DII Men's Basketball Championship; First-team All-American
  • Brady Ham, South Florida State, baseball - 2026 FCSAA DII Baseball Pitcher of the Year; Second-team All-American; posted a record of 4-5 with a 2.20 ERA; struck out 82 batters in 73.2 innings pitched
  • Trent Lincoln, Gulf Coast State, basketball - 2026 FCSAA DI Men's Basketball Player of the Year; First-team All-American; helped Gulf Coast State advance to the semifinals of the NJCAA DI Men's Basketball Championship; averaged 19.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists
  • Jordan Martinez, Gulf Coast State, baseball - 2026 FCSAA DI Baseball Pitcher of the Year; Honorable Mention All-American; 10-4, 4.98 ERA, 97 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched
  • Jack Newman, Florida State College at Jacksonville, baseball - 2026 FCSAA DII Baseball Player of the Year; Third-team All-American; .383 batting average, 18 home runs, 57 RBI
  • Juan Orozco, Seminole State, baseball - FCSAA DI Baseball Player of the Year; Second-team All-American; .424 batting average, 20 home runs, 60 RBI
  • Marin Selak, Daytona State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year; First-team All-American; helped Daytona State to the FCSAA Championship and runner-up finish in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship; anchored a Falcons defense that allowed only 22 goals in 20 matches and delivered seven shutouts
  • Josue Youta, Daytona State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA Men's Soccer Player of the Year; Third-team All-American; helped Daytona State to the FCSAA Championship and runner-up finish in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship; scored 14 goals and assisted on six others over 20 games; totaled 34 points and two game-winning goals

Female Athlete of the Year  

  • Nichelle Brown, Florida Gateway, flag football - 2026 FCSAA Women's Flag Football Defensive Player of the Year; helped the Timberwolves to the NJCAA Championship; recorded 87 flag pulls, nine interceptions, six tackles for loss, eight sacks and eight pass break-ups; scored four touchdowns (defensive or special teams)
  • Shaneil Buckley, Daytona State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA DI Women's Soccer Player of the Year; First-team All-American; led Daytona State to FCSAA and NJCAA Championships; Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Offensive Player at the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Championship; totaled 56 points on 23 goals and 10 assists, including seven game-winning goals
  • Kiera Carow, South Florida State, softball - 2026 FCSAA DII Softball Pitcher of the Year; helped South Florida State to a berth in the FCSAA DII Softball Championship; 9-6 with a 2.18 ERA; struck out 147 batters in 163.2 innings pitched
  • Savannah Carter, Northwest Florida State, softball - 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Co-Player of the Year; Second-team All-American; helped the Raiders to a runner-up finish at the FCSAA DI Softball Championship and a berth in the NJCAA DI Softball World Series; batted .405 with seven home runs and 32 RBI; in the circle, she was 23-2 with three saves and a 1.41 ERA; struck out 159 batters in 138.2 innings pitched
  • Younsoo Cho, Hillsborough, tennis - 2026 FCSAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year and FCSAA Individual Champion at #1 Singles; helped Hillsborough to FCSAA and NJCAA Championships; won #1 Singles and #1 Doubles at both the FCSAA and NJCAA Championships and was named First-team All-America at #1 Singles and #1 Doubles; posted a 13-0 record in singles vs. NJCAA competition, 11-1 in doubles
  • Jenelle Cruz, St. Johns River State, softball - 2026 FCSAA DII Softball Player of the Year; First-team All-American; helped St. Johns River State to the FCSAA DII Championship and a berth in the NJCAA DII Softball World Series; batted .382 with 20 home runs, 72 RBI and 32 stolen bases
  • Mei Chiang, Florida State College at Jacksonville, cross country - 2025 FCSAA DII WXC Runner of the Year and DII Individual Champion at the FCSAA XC Championships, tying the race record with a 5K time of 18:46.4; First-team All-American; finished 8th at the NJCAA DII XC Championships
  • Karlee Gainey, Florida Gateway, golf - Second-team All-American; placed eighth at the NJCAA DII Women's Golf Championship and helped the Timberwolves to a sixth-place finish in the team standings; Individual Champion at the NJCAA DII Southeast District Championship; seven wins in 10 events in 2026
  • Rachel Horsford, Seminole State, cross country - 2025 FCSAA DI WXC Runner of the Year and DI Individual Champion at the FCSAA XC Championships; helped Seminole State to the FCSAA DI Championship and a 25th place finish at the NJCAA DI XC Championship
  • Amelia Johnson, Pensacola State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA DII Women's Soccer Player of the Year; helped Pensacola State to the FCSAA DII Championship; scored seven goals (four game-winners) and recorded two assists for a total of 16 points
  • Alana Kutt, Daytona State, golf - First-team All-American; finished second in the individual standings at the NJCAA DI Women's Golf Championship while leading Daytona State to the National Championship in the team standings; individual champion at the NJCAA DI Southeast District Championship
  • Emma Acedo Lapieza, Palm Beach State, beach volleyball - 2026 FCSAA Beach Volleyball Player of the Year; First-team All-American Doubles; led Palm Beach State to the FCSAA and NJCAA Championships; 9-2 in pairs action vs. NJCAA competition
  • Caroline Mito, Miami Dade, softball - 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Co-Player of the Year; First-team All-American; batted .536 with eight home runs, 55 RBI and 39 stolen bases
  • Luyeisy Marquez-Moreno, Miami Dade, volleyball - 2025 FCSAA DI Volleyball Player of the Year; First-team All-American and NJCAA DI Player of the Year; led the Sharks to FCSAA and NJCAA Championships; Most Valuable Player of the NJCAA DI Volleyball Championship; averaged 3.8 kills, 2.8 digs, 0.3 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.4 service aces
  • Taylor Rietveld, Chipola, basketball - 2026 FCSAA DI Women's Basketball Player of the Year; Second-team All-American; helped Chipola to a runner-up finish in the FCSAA DI Women's Basketball Championship and a berth in the NJCAA DI Women's Basketball Championship; averagedd 16.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists
  • Oksanna Smith, Lake-Sumter State, outdoor track & field - finished 5th in the 400m hurdles at the NJCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Championships to earn NJCAA All-America honors by the USTFCCCA 
  • Janiah Suprius, Palm Beach State, basketball - 2026 FCSAA DII Women's Basketball Player of the Year; Second-team All-American; led Palm Beach State to the FCSAA DII Women's Basketball Championship; averaged 26.0 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists
  • Lovina Teel, St. Johns River State, volleyball - 2025 FCSAA DII Volleyball Player of the Year; First-team All-American; led the Vikings to the FCSAA DII Championship and berth in the NJCAA DII Volleyball Championship; averaged 3.9 kills, 1.6 digs, 0.1 assists, 0.4 blocks and 0.5 service aces
  • Julianna Trujillo, Daytona State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA DI Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year; First-team All-American; helped Daytona State to FCSAA and NJCAA Championships; Most Valuable Defensive Player at the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer Championship; allowed only six goals in 1631 minutes
  • Sadie Van Tessell, Pensacola State, soccer - 2025 FCSAA DII Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year; helped the Pirates to the FCSAA DII Championship; anchored a Pirates defense who that allowed only two goals in four matches vs. FCSAA DII foe Pasco-Hernando State
  • Layla West, Florida Gateway, flag football - 2026 FCSAA Women's Flag Football Offensive Player of the Year; helped Florida Gateway win the NJCAA Championship; had 61 receptions for 845 yards and 18 TDs in regular season play
  • Zoe Yzaguirre, Florida SouthWestern, softball - 2026 FCSAA DI Softball Pitcher of the Year; First-team All-American; helped FSW to the FCSAA DI Softball Championship and a third-place finish at the NJCAA DI Softball World Series; 19-2 with two saves and a 1.23 ERA; struck out 159 batters in 138.2 innings pitched
