NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Notebook: September 27

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 27, 2016) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) has released its NJCAA Region 8 Volleyball Coaches’ Poll for September 27 and Player, Defensive Player and Setter of the Week selections for matches played September 19-25.

The next poll and individual weekly awards will be released October 4.

NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week

  • Led Central Florida to a pair of Mid-Florida Conference victories during a perfect 2-0 week
  • Averaged 2.4 kills, 8.4 assists, 0.3 service aces, 3.6 digs, 0.6 blocks and 3.1 points in seven sets over two matches
  • Posted a triple-double – 11 kills, 30 assists and 17 digs – in a 3-1 win over Santa Fe

Cape Coral, Fla. 

  • Led Hillsborough to three straight-set victories in three matches played last week
  • Averaged 5.1 digs over a total of nine sets and three matches; also averaged 0.3 assists, 0.6 service aces and 0.6 points per set
  • Recorded double-figure digs in all three matches – 17 vs. Pasco-Hernando State, 12 vs. South Florida State and 17 vs. State College of Florida
  • Also credited with four service aces in the Hawks’ 3-0 win over State College of Florida

  • Led Palm Beach State to a perfect 2-0 record – Southern Conference wins vs. Broward and Eastern Florida State – last week
  • Averaged 11.4 assists over two matches and seven total sets
  • Also averaged 1.0 kill, 0.3 service aces, 1.6 digs and 0.1 blocks while tallying a hitting percentage of .417
  • Credited with 36 assists in 3-0 win over Broward; 46 assists in 3-1 win over Eastern Florida State
