Polk State's Yue Wu named NJCAA Volleyball Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 23, 2015) - Polk State College's Yue Wu has been named the NJCAA's Division I Volleyball Player of the Week.

Wu was named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Player of the Week for the second straight week on Tuesday.

A freshman from Shanghai, China, Wu averaged 5.7 kills, 4.1 digs, 0.5 assists, 0.3 service aces, 0.3 blocks and 6.1 points per set (15 total sets) while tallying a .314 hitting percentage during the voting period.

Wu appeared in four of the Eagles' five matches last week and led Polk State to a 3-1 record in those matches. 

She recorded double-doubles in all four matches in which she appeared, including 24 kills and 17 digs vs. then-FCSAA No. 3/NJCAA No. 18 Santa Fe College and 23 kills and 18 digs vs. then-No. 13 San Jacinto (Texas) College. 

Wu currently leads Region 8 in kills per set (4.3) and total kills (225).

She is the second Region 8 player of the week recipient in 2015 - Pasco-Hernando State College's Teddi Wright was named Division II Player of the Week on September 16.
