FSW's Ellis named NJCAA Softball Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 26, 2020) - Florida SouthWestern's Natavia Ellis is the latest Region 8 student-athlete to take home NJCAA Player of the Week honors.

Ellis was named the NJCAA Division I Softball Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Ellis, a sophomore first baseman from Cape Coral, Fla., batted .714 (10-for-14) with nine runs scored, two home runs, 16 RBI and two stolen bases in seven games during the voting. She led the Bucs to a perfect week, including an 8-4 win over defending national champion Chipola. 

Ellis hit safely in each of her seven games, capped by going 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two doubles and two RBI vs. Chipola.

 

Ellis is the fourth Region 8 participant to earn NJCAA Softball Player/Pitcher of the Week honors in 2020, joining Lele Martinez (Northwest Florida State, February 19), Brianna Bailey (Chipola, February 19) and Devyn Howard (Central Florida, February 12). 

Ellis was named the NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week on Tuesday.
