NWF State men, Gulf Coast State women open season as NJCAA No. 1s

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 26, 2016) - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has released its preseason basketball polls and Region 8 schools took the No. 1 spot in both the men's and women's rankings. 

Leading the men's rankings is reigning NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Champion Northwest Florida State College. The Raiders are one of four teams from Region 8 in the preseason poll. 

Eastern Florida State College, who joined Northwest Florida State in last season's national tournament field, opens with a No. 4 ranking. 

Daytona State College is No. 12 and Tallahassee Community College is No. 19.

On the women's side, defending national champion Gulf Coast State College opens as the preseason No. 1. The Commodores are joined in the preseason Top 25 by four other Region 8 schools. 

Chipola College is ranked seventh, Northwest Florida State is twelfth, the College of Central Florida is 23rd and Daytona State is 24th.
